Meet the Artist, Pianist, Founder & Artistic Director - Youngwon French
Youngwon French has been awarded as a Top Piano Teacher from Steinway & Sons and one of Best Piano Teachers from Expertise for several years. Beside her highly refined private piano teaching curricula in Cincinnati, Youngwon has been the head company pianist & coordinator at Cincinnati Ballet since 2010.
As a Pianist, she won several first prizes in piano competitions and other awards including International Young Artists Piano Competition in Korea, Asian Piano Competition, Montreal Classical Music Festival, & Austrian Society Scholarship Competition in Canada. The Austrian Society Scholarship took Youngwon to Vienna to study under Rudolf Kehler, along with an internship position at Österreichischer Rundfunk Television and Radio Symphony Orchestra. Youngwon has performed as a soloist and a chamber musician in Seoul, Buenos Aires, Montreal, and San Diego.
As a Collaborative Artist, she specializes in electro-acoustic and contemporary works. Her recent composition, La Nymphe Brisee, was
choreographed by a rising American ballet dancer and choreographer, James Cunningham. It was world-premiered at College-Conservatory of Music: University of Cincinnati.
As a Concert Producer, she has been highly recognized for her creativity, research, and leadership in her own productions such as Tribute Concert to Glenn Gould as a Composer, and Leonard Bernstein as a Composer, which were broadcast nationwide by CBC/SRC FM and by CKUT FM Radio in Montreal. Youngwon was also featured in The Gazette newspaper and The Strat newspaper in Montreal.
As a Performing Arts Promoter, Youngwon produces and organizes Kilgour's Got Talent. This event was performed to an enthusiastic crowd of hudndreds at Kilgour School, followed by the more intimate setting of Marjorie P. Lee Retirement Center in Hyde Park.
